Welcome to the XIFI project website

The Future Internet (FI) is an emerging open communications infrastructure that facilitates the offering of an extremely wide range of services and applications, and is better coupled to users and the physical world. The Future Internet Public Private Partnership initiative (FI-PPP: www.fi-ppp.eu) promotes the adoption of FI by supporting the development of a common platform for large-scale trials and service offering across Europe, running on a wide range of FI infrastructures.

FI-Ops introduction

The XIFI project facilitates the uptake, deployment and federation of several instances of such a common platform to pave the way for a unified European marketplace that is crucial for enabling commercial exploitation of FI resources. This is achieved via FIWARE Ops, a collection of tools that ease the deployment, set-up and operation of FIWARE instances on infrastructures.

XIFI establishes a unique marketplace for for innovative European players through the creation of a sustainable pan-European open federation of test infrastructures to overcome the current fragmentation and enable widespread and replicable commercial launch of FI services and applications.

The XIFI infrastructure federation

Currently the XIFI infrastructure federation comprises 18 nodes and as such it can cope with large trial deployments and can serve the various needs of a broad set of FI users and experimenters. The interconnection of the infrastructures is supported by the national research networks (NRENs) and the pan-European GÉANT facility.
